Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul
Bongsan Hinoki Forest and Beacon Tower to Suguksa Temple
Start at the Bongsan forest trail entrance beside Soongsil Middle and High School, where a wooden deck climbs through Seoul's only large hinoki cypress forest, about 12,000 trees. Follow the ridge to the old beacon tower on the summit, with views over the city, then come down to Suguksa, a temple known for its golden main hall.
Before you go
- Good to know
- From Saejeol Station (Line 6) the entrance is about 1.2 km on foot, or take village bus Eunpyeong 10 to Soongsil High School. The map line follows forest paths to the ridge; the wooden deck from the entrance climbs to the same ridge in gentle zigzags. Restrooms near the hinoki forest viewpoint.
