Privacy notice

Who we are

osol.me is a free website that helps foreign travelers find walking routes in Seoul, Busan and Jeju. No sign-up or account is needed to browse.

osol is run by VROF (주식회사 브이로프).

What we collect

The “Suggest a video” and “Request removal” forms store a YouTube link, an optional note (up to 500 characters), the page language, and a one-way hash of the visitor’s IP address that changes daily. That hash exists only to limit spam; the IP address itself is not stored.

Walk reviews store the review text, an optional display name, an optional country, the page language, and the same daily IP hash. Reviews appear publicly only after approval, and visitors can ask for deletion.

Walk ratings store the walk, the number of stars (1–5), a random identifier kept in your browser so you can change your own rating, and the same daily IP hash. Only the average and the count are shown, and only once a walk has three or more ratings.

Walk suggestions (“Suggest a walk”) store the start, the end, the reason, and optionally a display name, a link and an email for a reply, with the page language and the same daily IP hash.

Problem reports (“Report a problem with this walk”) store the report text, the kind of problem, an optional email for a reply, the page language, and the same daily IP hash. osol uses that email only to reply.

Photobook

“Original photos” photobooks are made inside the visitor’s browser. The photos, and the time and location stored in them, are read on the device and are not sent to osol.

“My walks” keeps the walks you save or mark as walked in your browser’s local storage (name “osol_my”). Nothing is sent to osol and there is no account. A share link contains only the names of the walks in the list. Clearing the browser’s site data removes the list.

A request for the watercolor styles (“Autumn watercolor”, “An autumn for two”) sends the chosen photos (resized), the time and location read from each photo, the email address for the finished book, optional names for the cover, an optional note, the page language and the same daily IP hash. osol uses the photos only to make that book and deletes them within 7 days of the request; the request record (email, walk, style) is kept to deliver the book and answer questions. Watercolor backgrounds are painted with an AI image service (inferaft) — the photos are sent to it for that step, and people in the photos are kept as photographed.

Analytics and your choice

osol uses PostHog (PostHog Inc., United States) to understand which pages and links are used. The script loads through the proxy domain t.costs.kr. It records pages viewed, clicks, browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from the IP address. A random anonymous ID is kept in a first-party cookie or local storage (names start with “ph_”). It does not collect names or email addresses.

Visitors whose browser reports a European time zone (EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland) see a choice first; PostHog starts only after they press “Accept”. Everyone can change the choice later with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. Other visitors have analytics on by default and can turn it off with the same link.

Page views are also counted with Umami (metrics.browse.kr), which uses no cookies and does not identify visitors. It records the page address without its query string, the referring site, browser, device type and country.

Booking links (Klook)

Links that lead to Klook, a travel booking site, pass through osol.me/en/go/<id>. osol counts how many times each link is clicked — a total per link, with no personal identifier attached; common bots are not counted. Once on Klook, Klook’s own privacy policy applies. osol may earn a commission from Klook at no extra cost to the traveler.

Videos and maps

Before a video plays, only a thumbnail from i.ytimg.com loads. The player (youtube-nocookie.com) starts only after the visitor presses play; from that moment YouTube’s and Google’s policies apply.

Map images come from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). The browser requests them directly, so the OpenStreetMap Foundation receives the visitor’s IP address.

Email

Messages sent to Contact email address are received by Resend (an email service) and forwarded to osol’s mailbox. osol keeps messages as long as needed to reply.

Where data is stored

Form submissions, reviews and photobook requests are stored on osol’s own server in the Republic of Korea. PostHog stores analytics data in the United States.
